The team that brought you the horror masterpiece Re-Animator followed it up one year later with another H.P. Lovecraft-inspired body horror classic From Beyond. Starring Jeffrey Combs and Barbara Crampton (who will both be coming to Minnesota for Crypticon in October) as well as fellow horror legend Ken Foree (Dawn of the Dead), Stuart Gordon’s sophomore splatter-fest starts with a pineal gland experiment and ends with wall-to-wall interdimensional mutants getting mutilated. Bob Dylan Center Director Steven Jenkins will present the films and engage in a post-screening discussion and audience Q&A. Local singer-songwriter Dan Israel will round out the program with a brief solo-acoustic set of Dylan covers.

Rare films featuring Dylan on stage and in the studio over fifty years, from solo-acoustic beginnings through the “going electric” revolution, ongoing reinventions with The Band, Joan Baez and Tom Petty, and late-career tributes to Tony Bennett and Johnny Cash.

Spanning decades and musical styles, this far-ranging one-hour program of short films and videos from the Bob Dylan Archive features rare and previously unreleased clips of Dylan on stage and in the studio. Selections include Dylan’s first film soundtrack for 1961’s “Autopsy on Operation Abolition;” a devastating solo rendition of “Ballad of Hollis Brown” from the 1963 TV special “Folk Songs and More Folk Songs;” a rollicking 1976 take on “I Pity the Poor Immigrant” with Joan Baez; a gospel-infused “Blowin’ in the Wind;” an apocalyptically rocking “When the Night Comes Falling from the Sky” with Dylan backed by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers; loving tributes to Johnny Cash and Tony Bennett; a glimpse into the Archive’s film restoration project with never-before-seen footage of “It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue” from 1966; and many more treasures.

A grammar guru takes her pop-up grammar advice stand on an epic road trip across all 50 states to show that comma fights can bring us closer together in a divided time.

One fall day, Ellen Jovin set up a folding table on a Manhattan sidewalk with a homemade sign that said “Grammar Table.” Right away, passersby began excitedly asking questions, telling stories, and filing complaints.

What happened next is the stuff of grammar legend.

Ellen and her filmmaker husband, Brandt Johnson, took the table on the road, visiting all 50 states as Brandt shot the grammar action. But this story transcends grammar. It’s the story of an epic quest in a divided time to bring us all closer together.
