Post-screening conversation featuring director Joy Sela.

ABOUT THE FILM

In a world consumed by political polarization, Joy Sela’s documentary The Other offers a rare revelation. Filmed between 2017 and 2024, it follows Israeli and Palestinian peace activists who, despite profound personal loss, choose connection over division. Their stories—woven against the backdrop of the region’s history and culminating in the October 7 attacks and aftermath—illuminate both resilience and the struggle for dignity and equality. Reflecting Sela’s own transformative journey as an American-Israeli filmmaker, this powerful work challenges us to confront not only the conflict itself but also the beliefs within our own societies, revealing the possibility of change.
